The Referral Status Templates preference is used to record a list of referral status templates in the system. These are found when viewing a lab or clinic referral. The choice of values are selected using an autocomplete or dropdown list.


The table of Referral Status Templates will display the code, name, and status for the referral status template.
When adding or editing a referral status template, users are presented with the below form to complete. Always press Save in the bottom right-hand corner of the browser after adding or editing a referral status template.

A unique code for the referral status template. This can be the same as the name but must be unique throughout the entire system.
A name for the referral status template. It is advisable to keep this unique.
This drop down allows a single Referral Discipline to be added to the Referral Status Template. This will limit the Referral Status Template to referrals with the matching Referral Discipline.
This drop down allows a single Referral Type to be added to the Referral Status Template. This will limit the Referral Status Template to referrals with the matching Referral Type.
A dropdown to select the status that the referral will be set to after it has been ordered.
A dropdown to select the status that the referral will be set to when it is opened.
A dropdown to select the status that the referral will be set to when it is closed.
A dropdown to select the status that the referral will be set to when it is reported.
A dropdown to select the status that the referral will be set to when the report is authorised.
This table allows multiple Referral Transitions to be added to the Referral Status Template. This will limit the Referral Status Template to referrals with a matching Referral Transition. This particular example of “Mark as appointment booked” can be seen in the example above.

A name for the referral transition. It is advisable to keep this unique.
A colour for the button that will be displayed in the referral status template. This can be any valid CSS colour.
