Referral Reasons

The Referral Reasons preference is used to record a list of referral reasons in the system. These are found when adding a new lab or clinic referral. The choice of values are selected using an autocomplete or dropdown list.

Location

The table of Referral Reasons will display the code, name, and status for the referral reason.

Configuration

When adding or editing a referral reason, users are presented with the below form to complete. Always press Save in the bottom right-hand corner of the browser after adding or editing a referral reason.

Name (Required)

A name for the referral reason. It is advisable to keep this unique.

Code (Required, Unique)

A unique code for the referral reason. This can be the same as the name but must be unique throughout the entire system.

Coded Reason

A freetext field to record a coded reason for the referral.

ICD

A freetext field to record the ICD code for the referral.

Referral Type

A dropdown list to select the referral type for the referral reason.

Other/Unknown Reason

A checkbox to indicate if the referral reason is an other/unknown reason.

Active

A checkbox to activate/deactivate an entry. If the preference is not active, it will not be selectable in any drop-down lists.

Referral Reason Categories

A table to record the categories for the referral reasons. These are used to group referral reasons together.

Referral Types

A table to record the types for the referral reasons. These are used to group referral reasons together.

Referring Department

A table to record the referring department for the referral reasons. These are used to group referral reasons together.
